Mad Duran

Clarinet, Saxophone & Flute

Mad Duran grew up in the Bay Area, where she started studying the clarinet, saxophone and flute at an early age, taking her clarinet private instruction for ten consecutive years through to her graduation from the University of Miami where she received a bachelor of music in clarinet.  Mad’s professional performance experience has spun over 20 years, performing with Master jazz guitarist and husband Eddie Duran.  On soprano, alto tenor saxophones, alto and c-flutes she has performed in Europe, San Francisco, Portland, New York City, Boston, Washington DC, Seattle, Texas, Michigan, Nevada and Colorado.  She has mastered classical, jazz ballads to be-bop, Latin jazz, Brazilian, salsa, bossa and tango, playing with or sharing the stage with: Stan Getz, Tootie Heath, Buddy Montgomery, James Moody, Tee Carson, George Cables, Eddie Henderson, Chuck Israels, Donald Bailey, Eddie Marshall, Larry Vuckovich, Larry Grenadier, Jeff Ballad, Eddie Moore, Ray Drummond, Akira Tana and Jessica Williams.  Added to her all encompassing music career, she has played the clarinet in concert bands, symphony orchestras, jazz ensembles, small jazz combos, pit orchestras for musicals, contemporary music ensembles, chamber music ensemble, conducted bands and orchestra, clarinet soloists with symphony orchestra.
